Columbia Spring Kings: Portland, OR

In Episode 128 of Northwest Fishing, Rob and Hillary Holman team up with expert angler Jack Apperson to chase the elusive spring salmon—often referred to as unicorns of the river! Hitting Portland, Oregon area of the Columbia River, the crew hopes to land some of these prized fish that have garnered a reputation for their elusive nature. They prepare to fish with herring—an effective bait for these spring chinooks. Jack shares his expert knowledge on rigging techniques while emphasizing the importance of maintaining a subtle “tick” on the line to indicate contact with the bottom.
