Early Season Astoria Salmon

Rob Holman and Paul Hamilton set sail on a beautiful summer day from Astoria, Oregon, ready to explore the bountiful ocean waters. Our target? The prized Chinook and feisty coho salmon that are just waiting to be caught! The crew discusses their strategy: fishing depths between 50 and 90 feet while keeping a watchful eye on the horizon for signs of fish. The anticipation builds as the first bites start coming in. Though we experience the thrill of several hook-ups, the excitement is mixed with the occasional heartache of losing a fish right at the boat. After some near misses, the team finally lands a stunning hatchery coho—an impressive keeper that’s sure to make for a delicious meal!
