Lake Francis Montana Walleye & Potholes Spring Carp

A thrilling 4th of July fishing adventure at Lake Francis - targeting walleye, pike, and delicious crawfish! Later, they try their hand at bowfishing for carp on the Potholes Reservoir.

About This Episode

This episode of Northwest Fishing takes you to the breathtaking Lake Francis, nestled in the picturesque town of Valier along the Rocky Mountain Front. It’s 4th of July weekend, and hosts Matt and Mike Carey and trusty canine companions, Duke and Murphy, are ready for an action-packed day on the water with walleye and pike on their radar.

As the crew sets out, they deploy crawfish pots in hopes of a delicious boil later in the day. Using fish carcasses from previous trips as bait, they set their lines and begin trolling with an array of lures, including the eye-catching Mack’s Wally Pop in vibrant colors. Peep two impressive walleye measuring 21 and 24 inches! With a focus on conservation, the team returns the larger fish to the lake, allowing it to thrive and be caught again in the future.

Featuring a spring Chinook pro tip segment from Barry Howard of Jones Sportfishing.

Later, Rob Holman and Shelby Ross of Ross Outdoor Adventures go bowfishing for carp on the Potholes in Moses Lake, WA. All kinds of action in this episode!
